Zoë has been recognised for the last few years as a “strong junior” on the Northern Circuit by the Legal 500. She has appeared in the High Court, the EAT and the Court of Appeal and is regularly against more senior counsel. Her clients include some of the UK’s largest insurers, local authorities and financial institutions. As well as having a reputation as a formidable advocate, Zoë is well known for her friendly and down to earth approach to clients and instructing solicitors.
Zoë has experience in all areas of employment law, in particular discrimination, wrongful and unfair dismissal and equal pay. Zoë also has a broad commercial practice encompassing all forms of contract disputes, with a particular emphasis on employment. Her work includes issues such as restrictive covenants, breach of confidence and the re-organisation of businesses.
Zoë has a wide range of experience in personal injury litigation, including employer’s liability, public liability and road traffic claims. She has particular experience of large group actions, including cryptosporidium and legionella infections.
Zoë has extensive experience in defending fraud cases. Recently this has included claims brought by insurers against fraud rings, including non-liability declarations and recovery of sums paid out by insurers. She has a very high success rate in defending fraud claims.
Zoë’s practice also includes all areas of housing law, in which she appears exclusively for landlords. Her work in this area includes all aspects of lease and tenancy agreements, rent and service charges, security of tenure, right to buy, nuisance and ASBOs. She also advises local authorities and registered social landlords on policy, human rights issues and judicial reviews.
