PROFILE
Nigel Grundy has always practised in a number of related fields of law with his employment work which has links to his professional indemnity/negligence, commercial and personal injury work. He is very well known for employment work, for which “Chambers Directory” and the “Legal 500” describe him as a “Leading Junior” and “Highly Rated”. He practises extensively in individual employment, restrictive covenant and discrimination cases and in industrial disputes. He advises a number of Local Authorities with regard to industrial relations matters. He has appeared in a number of high profile discrimination whistle blowing and equal pay cases. He advises and lectures upon many aspects of discrimination and employment law. His practice extends into disciplinary work including sports disciplinary bodies, the Police and the General Medical Council. Nigel Grundy is described in the latest Chambers & Partners Directory as earning top kudos as an employment advocate, with a “good manner with clients” and knowing his way around the Tribunal.
He has been involved recently in two high profile General Medical Council cases relating to the activities of Dr Shipman.
He has considerable experience of sporting related cases and has represented amongst others Manchester City FC, Bolton Wanderers FC, Stockport County FC and Wigan RLFC in the Employment Tribunals, in the High Court and at FA/Football League proceedings.
Lately he has acted for an NHS Trust in the Court of Appeal in an equal pay case and for the Royal & Sun Alliance in a retirement age/sex discrimination case. He has advised a number of leading firms of Solicitors upon the effect of the changes to the TUPE Regulations.
