EMPLOYMENT PROFILE

Lena regularly appears in the Employment Tribunal acting for both Claimants and Respondents and has dealt with claims involving:

  • Unfair dismissal / wrongful dismissal;
  • Redundancy;
  • Disability Discrimination;
  • Sex Discrimination;
  • Race Discrimination;
  • Unlawful deduction from wages;
  • Working time regulations;
  • Breach of contract; and
  • TUPE

Lena recently completed a secondment with the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Lena undertook advisory work for the Legal Enforcement Team on the application of the Race Relations Act 1976. Having studied Human Rights during her Masters Lena has a particular interest in the area of discrimination.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Lena gained valuable expereince of advocacy in the Employment Tribunal as a Free Representation Unit (FRU) Representative. During her time as a FRU Representative Lena undertook cases primarily in the area of discrimination, with a particular focus on disability discrimination. Lena has acted on behalf of individuals, trade unions, local authorities and businesses of various sizes.

Lena also provides advisory and drafting services in all areas of Employment Law.
