PROFILE
Since the inception of his practice Boyd Morwood has endeavoured to provide high quality advocacy and advisory services to dedicated personal injury practitioners. Boyd accepts instructions from a wide range of private individual and insurer clients on a national basis and has a broad range of experience in both Claimant and Defendant practice.
Whilst based in London, Boyd worked exclusively for the Treasury Solicitor dealing with Ministry of Defence claims before acting as a Judicial Assistant to the Lord Justices of Appeal. Boyd has since appeared before the Administrative Court and Court of Appeal in claims of high value or principle. His practice focuses consistently on personal injury actions of complexity.
Boyd maintains a practice predominantly focused upon insurance related litigation with emphasis placed upon issues of fraud. He has recently co authored an article on LVI litigation (NLJ Jan 06) and regularly appears in insurance fraud cases and related claims.
Boyd continues to conduct employer’s liability and disease claims for Claimant and Defendant alike and maintains a sympathetic approach. Boyd’s sound knowledge of the law relating to other specialist areas has allowed him to act in claims involving:
- Interpretation of European and International Conventions
- Interpretation of European Motor Insurers Agreements
- Fatal Accident Act Claims
- Class Actions involving serious injury and the death of Minors
- Claims involving the State
- Conflict of Laws in Personal Injury Litigation
Boyd has lectured upon the specialist Personal Injury Practitioners and Ethics programme on the Bar Vocational Course, Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester and has had a number of reported cases including Lawrence v Chief Constable of Staffordshire [2000] PIQR.
