Mr Howard practises employment law and personal injury law, as well as advises a wide range of regulatory bodies, including the General Medical Council. He has extensive experience of County Court, High Court and Tribunal work, including group redundancy applications, discrimination & harassment, unfair dismissal and restraint of trade injunctions.
He has a particular interest and expertise in Clinical Negligence and medical causation as a result of his work as an Assistant Deputy Coroner and experience whilst completing a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at Manchester University and an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering.
Mr Howard’s employment law specialism led him to spend a year on secondment working for Johnson, Stokes and Master in Hong Kong, the largest Solicitor’s firm in Asia. His work in Asia focussed on providing legal advice on discrimination law to several airlines such as Cathay Pacific & international banks such as HSBC and BNP Paribas, whilst he gained a unique insight into the challenges and demands made on Solicitors which is of great benefit to those who instruct him.
Mr Howard has also developed a large personal injury law practice in which he specialises in employer’s liability, industrial disease and clinical negligence. Mr Howard combines his legal work with studying, now in the penultimate year, for his two medical degrees. Both degrees have further developed Mr Howard’s knowledge in understanding the mechanics causative of injury.
As a result of his extensive legal practice and in-depth medical knowledge, Mr Howard offers a truly unique insight into personal injury, having the skill to cross-examine expert medical witnesses combined with the ability to thoroughly interrogate medical evidence.
Mr Howard has been recommended by the Legal 500 for his knowledge of employment law, reliability and willingness to get on with clients.
Mr Howard is an appointed Assistant Deputy Coroner for Preston and West Lancashire and included in the approved counsel list for the General Medical Council.
Mr Howard is known for his common-sense, down to earth and approachable style which has always been favourably received by Solicitors and clients alike.
SEMINARS
Anthony is regularly called upon to lecture in all his fields of specialism and this has recently included topics such as the drafting of Special Damages and Pre-action disclosure. He has also lectured at Manchester University as part of their Employment Law post-graduate programme.
